Envent partnered with engineering firm Sharma & Partners and contractor Riverside Geo to deliver a high-performance HVAC system for the new Lakeshore Long-Term Care facility. Designed with resident comfort, health, and operational efficiency in mind, the system features custom air handling units (AHUs) that incorporate ground source heat pump technology, integrated humidification, and advanced heat recovery. O'Dell HVAC Group served as the local manufacturer representative, supporting project coordination and ensuring the solution met all long-term care and healthcare facility requirements.

Project Scope

This project called for a turnkey HVAC system that could address the unique demands of long-term care environments—including code compliance, comfort, humidity control, and energy savings. Envent designed and built eight custom AHUs featuring heat wheel heat recovery technology and ground source heat pumps for efficient year-round heating and cooling. The system also included hot gas reheat for summer dehumidification, integrated humidifiers for winter moisture control, and a backup hydronic heating coil. O'Dell HVAC Group supported the design and product selection, while Riverside Geo managed the installation, connecting the system to a bore field for heat rejection.

Challenges & Solutions

Long-term care environments demand a reliable HVAC system that can manage air quality and comfort while complying with healthcare codes. The Envent team worked with Sharma & Partners to meet these challenges through a highly customized solution that balanced performance and compliance.

System Highlights:

  • Eight heat wheel energy recovery units with integrated ground source heat pumps

  • Hot gas reheat coils for effective humidity control during warmer months

  • Built-in humidifiers to maintain ideal humidity levels in winter

  • Backup hydronic heating coil to ensure continuous heating capabilities

  • Supported by O'Dell HVAC Group to streamline delivery and service integration

Results

The Lakeshore LTC facility now benefits from an HVAC system purpose-built for comfort, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Residents enjoy a healthier indoor environment, while operators gain a system designed to minimize energy use and maintenance needs.

Project Outcomes:

  • Improved air quality and humidity control tailored to long-term care environments

  • Lower operational costs through energy-efficient system design

  • Seamless integration with ground source heat rejection via bore field

  • Timely delivery and expert coordination by Envent and O'Dell HVAC Group
